Bookstore (1954)
back :: home :: next
For over 40 years the UA’s co-operative Bookstore had moved around the campus from a 1912 beginning on the second floor of Old Main, to a corner in the first library, then in and out of Old Main again, with the World War II years spent in the basement of the Women’s Building. Operated by the Associated Students, bookstore profits since 1937 financed this 50 x 80 foot building which was constructed at the west end of the Student Union, the approximate site of the former Dining Hall.

Bookstore opening.

Looking east toward the Student Union through the arcade over the Bookstore entrance. This nice grouping of palm trees lasteduntil the Bookstore's 1981 expansion.
