Meet the Mentors!

Hi I’m Tana Feliz Encinias y Garcia…yeah, it’s a mouthful. I’m a political science major who intends to minor in health administration and human services. Thanks to a childhood spent growing up all over the world, I have quite a passion for traveling and would like to spend the rest of my life doing that and getting paid for it. I got involved with ATLAS because I love the idea of helping people to get involved in their school and their own education. Also, to help them develop their leadership skills, especially in the areas of social justice and service, and yes, ATLAS is a terrific place to do just that. Other than that I’m a pretty friendly, laid back person who often finds myself wishing life was a musical (wouldn’t things just be that much more fun if people would break out into choreographed dance routines more often?) I am more than happy to try and answer any of your questions about involvement, leadership, ATLAS and life in general.

Hi! My name is Emily Hobart and I am an ATLAS Mentor! This is my third year at the University of Arizona, studying Chemistry, Pre-Pharmacy, and French! Academics is all well and good, but what really gets me up everyday are the leadership programs like ATLAS that we have here on campus! ATLAS is a great program because it is tailored specifically to what YOU want to learn about and it is self-paced and available to you when you are ready! It is "Leadership on Your Schedule!" If you have any questions, or if you would like to learn more
about ATLAS, feel free to ask me! I am a resource for you!

Hi my name is Dorothy, and I am from Ohio – not Kansas. I enjoy text messaging, spending time with my friends and family, and volunteering. I joined ATLAS because of its' flexibility. There are very few programs where people can choose which certificates they want and how quickly they want to receive them. I am really excited to be a mentor this year, and let me know if you need any help.

I’m Erin Ashley, and I am from Kansas, unlike Dorothy. I’m a transfer student from Kansas State University, which incidentally has the same mascot as the U of A. I am majoring in Creative Writing and minoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. When I transferred here I didn’t know anyone, and I wasn’t sure how much time I could invest in leadership development. So I signed up for ATLAS since it was so flexible. I haven’t looked back since! It’s a wonderful program offering a unique leadership experience and flexibility that can’t be found any where else on campus! I look forward to meeting you and answering all your questions about ATLAS, the certificates, and anything else you would like to ask!

I am Jill Burchell, and I come from the land of Cincinnati chili and Bengal football. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Guilford College, before taking on social work helping individuals with developmental disabilities for several years. Currently, I am seeking my master’s degree in Higher Education here at The University of Arizona. I have worked with ATLAS since it was just an idea, and could not be more excited to see such a fabulous program developing. Along with co-ordinating the ATLAS program, I also serve as the Eco Theme Coordinator for the Arizona Blue Chip program, the Operations Advisor for the National Collegiate Leadership Conference, and oversee the Leadership & Involvement Transcript Program. I love leadership and want to invite you all to come be a part of one of our programs. If you have any questions about how to get involved, just let me know!
