GREAT Greek Weekend

GREAT Greek Weekend is a leadership retreat for emerging leaders (typically freshmen and sophmores) that will prepare them for future challenges. This retreat combines team building and experiential learning with opportunities to interact with fraternity and sorority members from other chapters while examining local and national Greek topics and trends.

Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA)

GAMMA is the student risk management policy of the member fraternities and sororities of IFC and Panhellenic. Members of GAMMA are responsible for the implementation and enforcement of regulations at social events. The group meets once per month, and coordinates such events as Social Chair Training and the GAMMA Summit.

Advocates for National Greek Leadership and Education (ANGLE)

ANGLE is the peer education organization of fraternity and sorority members from The University of Arizona Greek community. ANGLE peer educators are trained through an academic course where they learn about presentation and facilitation skills as well as questions facing today’s college students. These peer educators then present, facilitate, and educate fraternity and sorority members on these points through forums such as the New Member Symposium and GREAT Greek Weekend.

Greek Life 101

Traditionally held in the Spring semester, students are able to recieve 2 academic credits for taking this leadership course. This course covers various issues and current trends in Greek Life, and encompasses both national and local issues. Topics include service-learning, leadership, risk reduction, scholarship, values, Greek image, and personal development.

Greek Judicial Board

J-Board is a peer based board of 9 Greek members, who uphold and enforce all Greek Life policies and the UA Code of Conduct. The Board is representative of IFC, Panhellenic, and NPHC chapters. J-Board Justice selection traditionally happens in early Spring.

Order of Omega

Order of Omega is an academic and leadership honorary for Greek Life. This national organization recognizes those fraternity and sorority members who have demonstrated exemplary academic and leadership skills. The local chapter annually host the Advisor Appreciation dinner and the Greek Awards Banquet.

Gamma Sigma Alpha

Gamma Sigma Alpha is the premier academic honorary for Greek Life, and membership is limited to the most academically successful Greeks. Qualification for membership is a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and local chapter members actively recognize outstanding faculty contributions to Greek Life as well as conducting philanthropies.

Gamma Eta Kappa - The Greek Jewish Honor Society

Gamma Eta Kappa recognizes those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership and academics and encourages them to continue this, inspiring others to excel. Encouraging inter-Greek relations and bringing Jewish experiences to these fraternity men and women, Gamma Eta Kappa helps create an atmosphere where ideas and issues, Greek or Jewish, can be discussed openly.

Panhellenic Recruitment Counselors

Panhellenic Recruitment Counselors are sorority members who volunteer their time to help Potential New Members during Formal Fall Membership Recruitment. These women participate in a semester-long trainign program in which they learn to assist women in transitioning to the UA, getting involved, and understanding the logistics of the Sorority Membership Recruitment Process.

New Member Symposium

Each semester, all the new members of each fraternity and sorority attend a seminar on a timely topic. Past topics have included sexual assault, relationship violence, hazing, new member rights, alcohol, and wellness issues. The main purpose of NMS is to prepare our newest members of the Greek community for their experience, to help them gain the most from their membership throughout their college career. The program is sponsored and organized by IFC, NPHC, and Panhellenic leaders.
