Graduate Assistant for Campus Activites - General
Primary function of the position: This position directly assists the Senior Coordinator for Campus Activities & Social Justice Programs in oversight of The Cellar, Gallagher Movie Theater, and the Board (University Activities Board). This position will focus on advising, event planning, leadership development, and supervision of student staff. The position is a one-half time (20 hours a week), 12-month academic year appointment, which includes some weekend and evening hours.
This position includes the following primary duties and responsibilities:
Departmental Responsibilities
- Participate in the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership's (CSIL) planning and program assessment activities.
- Attend CSIL staff meetings and participate in staff training activities.
- Participate in weekly Campus Activities Team meetings.
Programming
- Plan and implement university wide programming with an emphasis on social justice to be held at both the Student Union Memorial Center and Park Student Union.
- Create, administer, & analyze assessments that solicit feedback on programs offered by Campus Activities.
- Plan and run all advanced screenings in collaboration with advertising agencies and movie studios.
- Develop Gallagher Movie Theater Schedule. Includes ordering movies from movie studios.
- Collaborate with Student Union partners such as The Board (University Activities Board), FSP (Fraternity & Sorority Programs), and Dining Services to provide programming in The Cellar.
- Work with campus partners such as the RHA (Residence Hall Association), to provide programming in The Cellar.
- Work with community members and campus departments to collaborate on screenings and programs.
Administration
- Assist with the creation of marketing for areas of responsibilities.
- Manage Listserv's for areas of areas of responsibilities.
- Supervise the The Cellar programming team. Includes hiring, training and evaluation of staff.
Advising
- Advise committees that constitute The Board (University Activities Board). The committees are: Up Late, Comedy Corner, Films, Family Weekend, Project Volunteer, Arts, Diversity Initiatives, & Concerts.
- Assist in planning and facilitating retreats for UAB once per semester.
- Provide additional educational programs and workshops to UAB as needed.
- Assist the UAB Executive Board in selecting and training new committee chairs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Admission to a University of Arizona Graduate Program
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
1. Acceptance into the Higher Education or Business Administration Graduate Programs.
2. Previous experience with planning programs for a college campus community – both residential and commuter.
3. Previous experience advising and/or working with students.
4. Previous experience with retail.
5. Strong organizational skills, time management and the ability to work independently.
