Graduate Assistant for Leadership Programs-Blue Chip

Salary:$10,920
Hours:20 per week, evenings & weekends

Position Summary
This position will develop, coordinate, and administer leadership programs for students in the Arizona Blue Chip Program, as well as the general student population of the University of Arizona.
Duties and Responsibilities:
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Assist in the administration, supervision, budgeting, fund development, and assessment of the Arizona Blue Chip Program, a four-year leadership development program for approximately 600 students.
- Coordinate Theme Activity Board selection, placement, and training for Blue Chip Phase III students.
- Oversee marketing, room reservations, supplies, and assessment process for all theme events.
- Oversee leadership front area operations including staffing, training, resources, and space
- Coordinate the Leadership & Involvement Transcript program including marketing, approvals, and printing transcripts.
- Assist in Leadership Programs and Center for Student Involvement and Leadership planning, professional development, and coordination.
- Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Department and University goals and objectives.
FUND DEVELOPMENT
- Assist in fundraising initiatives for the Arizona Blue Chip Program and general Leadership Programs including sponsorships, grants, ad sales, licensing, and donations.
COLLABORATION
- Work with community partners for Phase II theme project and Phase IV meridian.
- Serve on the Leadership Team in the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership.
PROGRAMMING
- Assist in the coordination of the Blue Chip student staff retreat.
- Coordinate events for Blue Chip including Fireside Chats and the Family Weekend Luncheon.
- Assist in the coordination of Blue Chip Opening Event, Symposium, and Leadership Day.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Theme Coordinator, a semesterly Interphase event for Phase II, III and IV students in the theme.
SUPERVISION
- Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate 5 student Assistant Theme Coordinators in the advisement of Phase III students and their programming responsibilities.
- Oversee all Theme Activity Board chairs.
ADVISING
- Advise Phase III students on their Personal Leadership Plans.
- Advise the Blue Chip Programming Team in planning events including the End of Semester and End of Year Events.
- Advise Phase II, III, and IV students in one theme of the Blue Chip Program.
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
- Edit the Phase II theme-specific curriculum annually.
TEACHING/PRESENTING
- Teach a 2-credit leadership theme class in the fall.
- Teach a 2-credit Team Leader training course in the spring.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral Degree at the University of Arizona
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with leadership programs
- Strong organizational skills
- Good writing and/or editing skills
- Experience in advising college students
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Excellent presentation and speaking skills
