The Student Human Resources (HR) Department

The Student Human Resources (HR) Department is a new and cutting edge program developed by the Arizona Student Unions in response to the growing population of student employees.

In order to achieve this, the team joins representatives from each area along with a coordinator to facilitate the teams’ project. The team is composed of five members: 1) Student HR Coordinator, 2) CSIL Representative 3) Dining Services Representative, 4) Admin/Retail Representative, and 5) Operations Representative.

Mission

The department’s mission is “to enhance the Arizona Student Unions student workforce by finding new and better ways to a) hire those that will pursue excellence, b) train them to take the initiative and to exceed expectations and c) retain them by creating a greater sense of community among student employees as well as providing opportunities that support students’ professional goals."

Based on this mission, the team has developed some goals to guide them in choosing projects. Some goals of the department include:
• Develop retention and recognition programs
• Develop programs to create a greater sense of community among the student employee population
• Develop a better all inclusive online training program and orientation
• Develop a student employee web page

These long-term goals will help to shape the future of the Student Human Resource Team. In response to these goals, the team has developed the following programs/projects to be completed/worked on in Spring of 2007.
