DAG Mission & Role

Director's Advisory Group

Mission & Role

The primary mission of the Director's Advisory Group—as representatives of all Union employees and customers—is to communicate, present, discuss, advise and make recommendations on any issues that affect the goals, objectives, concerns, and vision of the Arizona Student Unions.

The secondary role of the Director's Advisory Group is to assist in the management and implementation of the recommendations it makes.

Responsibilities

Members of the Director's Advisory Group (DAG) have the following key responsibilities, duties and expectations:

  1. Attend a weekly meeting, providing input and feedback from employees
  2. Attend the DAG retreat
  3. Represent and participate in certain Union functions or programs (My!Place Expo, NewZ articles, Union Forum, etc.)
  4. Serve as liaison between DAG and your area/department
  5. Assist in the management and implementation of various tasks, as determined and agreed to by DAG
  6. Become familiar with all Union areas of operation
  7. Perform other related tasks or duties

Structure & Function

The DAG represents the Arizona Student Unions' employee population. Hence, the members represent a cross section of the Union's responsibility centers and functions. Members are nominated by Union employees and/or selected by the Student Union Director during the Spring Semester. Membership term is for one year, with a 2nd year option.

The DAG identifies key issues and outlines the year's goals and objectives at the yearly retreat. After several initial meetings, the DAG elects one of its members as the chair who is responsible for facilitating the weekly meeting. The chair's term can be monthly, by semester or for any length of time agreed to by the current DAG. Administrative support is provided to assist the chair (i.e. preparation of minutes, scheduling of rooms, etc.).
